In a video that has gone viral on social media, a fan was thrown out of the Adelaide Oval during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India. It is likely that he was an Indian fan given that he was wearing India’s Test jersey.
While he was being thrown out by security, the fan was seen waving a sandpaper to remind the crowd of a previous incident involving Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft.

In the video, the fan was being escorted by the security at the ground and the other spectators were shouting at him. The spectators also waved goodbye to him as he was kicked out of the Adelaide Oval. The fan didn’t stop and kept showing the sandpaper till the last moment.
Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj were involved in a serious altercation
It is not the only incident of the Adelaide Test as the match was full of spice. The players were involved in several verbal volleys with each other with Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head at the forefront.
Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj were involved in a serious altercation during Australia’s first innings. Siraj removed Head for 140 and then gave him a send-off that the latter didn’t like and returned with a few words back to the Indian quick.
After the end of the day, Head was asked about the incident and he claimed to have jokingly said “well bowled” to Siraj. Head further claimed to have been shown the way to the sheds by Siraj.
However, when Siraj was asked about the incident, he made serious allegations on Travis Head claiming that the batter was lying in front of the media. After the match, Siraj was fined 20% of his match fees and Head was reprimanded for his actions. Both the players received a demerit point each for their respective actions.
What was the sandpaper gate incident?
The sandpaper gate incident happened during Australia’s 2018 tour of South Africa and shocked the cricketing world. Australia’s then captain Steve Smith admitted to having scratched the ball during the Test match in Cape Town with a sandpaper through his teammate Cameron Bancroft.
Australia’s vice-captain at that time, David Warner, was also part of this plan as Bancroft was caught having a sandpaper in his pants and the umpires noticed it. All three players Smith, Warner, and Bancroft were banned from playing cricket for some period.
While Smith and Warner resumed their international careers after the ban, Bancroft found it tough to make it back to the national team. David Warner has even retired from international cricket while Steve Smith is in the later stages of his career.
