Tensions flared and emotions ran high as Shubman Gill found himself in the spotlight during an intense moment on the field in the ongoing Day-Night Test match between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Day 1.
India’s number three batter’s frustration erupted in an expletive-laden outburst after his elegant drive went straight to the Australian spinner Nathan Lyon, denying him a potential single in the 14th over of the ongoing second Test in Adelaide.
Shubman Gill’s fiery outburst stuns fans during Day-Night Test in Adelaide
The fiery moment, captured on cameras and stump mikes, had fans buzzing with amusement yet amazement. The incident took place after Scott Boland bowled a full and outside-off delivery and Gill stepped forward to play a well-timed drive.
However, Lyon was quick to react at that point, moving to his right to field the ball cleanly, and he couldn’t steal a single. Shubman Gill’s frustration was evident as he shouted a fiery “f*** off” at Nathan Lyon.

Before this incident, Scott Boland bowled a full delivery outside off to KL Rahul. The ball nipped back in, resulting in a thick inside edge onto Rahul’s pad. The ball trickled slowly towards mid-on, and Gill hesitated briefly before sprinting across after Rahul called for a single.
Despite the minor mix-up, the pair managed to steal the run, but Gill’s frustration certainly stemmed up following escaping a run-out chance in the ongoing Day-Night Test match against Australia in Adelaide. Rahul and Gill added 69 runs off 113 balls before the Karnataka batter fell to Mitchell Starc.
Scott Boland gets batter of Shubman Gill in Day-Night Test
Mitchell Starc dismissed KL Rahul for 37 off 64 balls in the ongoing second Test against India. The right-handed batter was caught by Nathan McSweeney at gully off a rising short delivery outside off. Rahul had been leaving balls well, but edged this one, and McSweeney took a low catch after diving forward to ensure his exit after his promising start at the Adelaide Oval.
Starc struck again, dismissing Virat Kohli for just seven runs off eight balls. Later, Gill was dismissed for 31 by Scott Boland, as the Indian batter shuffled across to a half-volley, playing around the ball and getting struck on the pads. The umpire gave him out LBW, and Gill walked off without reviewing the call.
Notably, Australia has a 100% winning record at the Adelaide Oval in pink-ball Tests. They have so far won 7 out of 7 Day-Night Tests in Adelaide, and now they look strong to continue their dominance with the pink ball at the same venue against the Indian cricket team.
Rohit Sharma says India is ready to break Australia’s winning record in Adelaide
Earlier, after winning the toss, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma said, “It looks like a good pitch; it looks a bit dry at the moment, with enough grass covering as well. It’ll have some carry for the fast bowlers. As the game goes on, it’ll get better to bat on. There will be something in it for everyone. It’s going to be a good game.
We’ve played a really good Test match in Perth; it was superb to watch from the outside. What the boys did was superb. It’s just about carrying that into this Test match. It’s a long series; we just want to focus on how we can get the results in our favor. We’ll try and do most things right in this game. We want to carry on from where we left off.”
