The India national cricket team is currently taking on the Australia national cricket team in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 series. Young batter Shubman Gill whacked left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc for a couple of boundaries despite losing Yashasvi Jaiswal on the first ball.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma opted to bat first in the day-night Test at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Friday, December 6. However, the visitors suffered an early setback in the match. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a golden duck. The southpaw trapped LBW on the first ball of the match by Mitchell Starc.

Shubman Gill, who is playing his first match in the Test series, showed his class despite the early dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Gill played the first two balls cautiously from Mitchell Starc but soon opened his account with a boundary. He didn’t middle the ball, but it went past the gully fielder for a four.

Shubman Gill Smashed Half-Century in India vs PM XI Match
Shubman Gill missed the first Test match after injuring his thumb during practice at the WACA. There were doubts about his readiness for the second Test, but Gill silenced his critics in the warm-up game against the Australia PM XI, where he was the top scorer for Team India with an unbeaten 50 runs.
Before this match, the 25-year-old last played in Australia during India’s historic victory at The Gabba in Brisbane, where he scored 91 runs during the run chase. At the time of writing this article, India was at 61/1 in 17 overs, with KL Rahul (30 runs off 55 balls) and Shubman Gill (29 off 48) at the crease.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Dismissed for Golden Duck on First Ball of the Match
Mitchell Starc dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal’s LBW on the very first ball. The crowd at Adelaide Oval erupted in excitement as Starc celebrated with his teammates. Veteran journalist Bharat Sundaresan highlighted the moment as one of the loudest roars at the venue.
