Virat Kohli At Nets

India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli is making sure that he gives his everything to prepare for the fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The Boxing Day Test match between the teams will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne from 26th December.

Virat Kohli has come under serious scanner after the string of low scores in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The batter, after slamming a century in the first match of the series at Perth, hasn’t been at his best and has struggled to get going in the last two games.

Virat Kohli has been getting out to deliveries outside off in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Kohli, since the last two games, has been getting out to deliveries outside off. The premier batter has struggled to get going, and his poor approach to the balls outside off has led to his downfall in the last two matches in Adelaide and the Gabba.

In the pink-ball Test at Adelaide Oval, he edged one off Starc and then Josh Hazlewood’s replacement Scott Boland. In the Gabba Test, he got driving the ball towards cover against Hazlewood. This has seen him getting criticized a lot for his approach.

However, to counter the threat of balls outside off stump, Virat Kohli is making sure he does everything. In the practice session on Tuesday (24th December), his main focus was on these balls as he looked to negotiate the threat ahead of the MCG Test.

Kohli asked pacers Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna to bowl to him outside off stump. The batter was also seen asking the pacers to bowl fast as he complimented them for bowling well and practiced the shouldering arm so that the bowler did not find an edge even if there was extra bounce.

Virat Kohli has a great track record at the Melbourne Cricket Ground

Kohli, in the last 4 innings, has scored just 26 runs as Australia pacers have managed to trouble him in the same channel. The premier batter, however, has been working very hard and it won’t be a surprise if he ends up playing a big knock in the next match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Virat Kohli has a great track record at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The batter has scored 316 runs from six innings at an average of 52.66. During his last visit, he scored 82 runs in the first innings, followed by a four-ball duck in the second innings.

The Indian team has a good record at the MCG of late. They have not lost a Test at the venue since 2011. The Rohit Sharma-led side would be keen to carry on the same record and win the match to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
