Rohit Sharma And Yashasvi Jaiswal

India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma talked about the controversial dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings of the fourth Test against the Australia National Cricket Team. He said that they have been unfortunate since the last few series and are falling on the wrong side.

In what was a massive turning point in the context of the fourth match, Yashasvi Jaiswal perished to a controversial dismissal against Pat Cummins. It arguably changed the result of the game as the Australia National Cricket Team won the match by a massive margin of 184 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal bags a controversial dismissal against Pat Cummins at MCG

It was during the bowling of Pat Cummins when the Australia National Cricket Team skipper bowled a short ball around the leg. Yashasvi Jaiswal attempted to play the pull shot but couldn’t get hold of it as he ended up gloving it to Alex Carey, who dived forward and took it inches above the ground.

The on-field umpire didn’t raise a finger, and with extreme optimism, Pat Cummins went for the DRS. As the replays were shown, there seemed to be a clear deflection, and the third umpire was convinced that there was deflection after the ball went past the gloves. But what was shocking to see was Snicko.

There wasn’t any spike on Snicko, but the third umpire didn’t trust that as he went with what with visual evidence and overturned the decision, and the batter had to take the long walk back in the pavilion. But he was upset with the call and was seen discussing with the umpire.

I don’t know what to make of that because the technology didn’t show anything – Rohit Sharma on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal

Rohit Sharma was asked about the dismissal but the India National Cricket Team skipper had no straight answer for the same. He said that although Yashasvi Jaiswal touched the ball, he isn’t sure how the umpires want to use the technology. Speaking to reporters, he said:

“Look, I don’t know what to make of that because the technology didn’t show anything. With the naked eye, it seemed that he did touch something. I don’t know how the umpires want to use the technology, but in all fairness, he did touch the ball. But again, it’s about the technology, which we all know is not 100 per cent.”

It’s just that we are more often than not falling on the wrong side of it – Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma also pointed out that they have been unfortunate since the last few series as most of the dismissals have gone against them. He explained:

“Like I said, we don’t want to look too much into that. It’s just that we are, more often than not, falling on the wrong side of it. It has been happening since India. I think we have been a little unfortunate.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played an innings of 82 runs in the first innings, played a knock of 84 runs in the second innings as well. He batted 208 balls in the second innings and also slammed 8 boundaries in his innings. After his wicket, India lost quick wickets and lost the match.
