WI vs BAN

The West Indies and Bangladesh will face off in the first ODI of their series scheduled to be held on the 8th of December at Warner Park in St. Kitts. In their ODI series history, both teams have displayed equal performance with each other as both teams have won 21 matches each in 44 encounters.

The home side, led by Shai Hope will be aiming to use this advantage and redeem themselves following a rather average year in the white–white cricket.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be without their normal skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto due to a groin strain. In his absence, Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be leading the Tigers and this will be his first captaincy assignment in ODIs.

Both teams head into the series after drawing their two-match Test series 1-1. Bangladesh’s recent form in ODIs, however, has been concerning—they’re coming off a 2-1 series defeat to Afghanistan.

West Indies, though inconsistent themselves, have been dominant at home and will look to carry that momentum into the 50-over format

WI vs BAN Key Battles

Shai Hope vs Taskin Ahmed

West Indies are anchored by their captain Shai Hope, who has impeccable technique and an ODI average of 49.90.

His contest against Bangladesh spearhead Taskin Ahmed, who has taken 17 wickets in his last 10 ODIs, will set the tone.

Taskin can swing the ball early, which could trouble Hope, but the West Indies skipper thrives under pressure.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz vs Shimron Hetmyer

Bangladesh’s spin maestro Mehidy Hasan Miraz, with an economy of 4.45, will look to strangle the West Indies in the middle overs.

But explosive Shimron Hetmyer, striking at 106.38 against spinners, will look to counterattack and dictate terms. This head-to-head could be pivotal on Warner Park’s slower tracks.

Marquino Mindley vs Afif Hossain

West Indies debutant Marquino Mindley, fresh from a 20-wicket haul in the Super50, brings raw pace and promise.

His task will be to unsettle Bangladesh’s returning Afif Hossain, a versatile left-hander eager to prove his worth. Their duel might determine the flow of the final overs.

WI vs BAN Key Players

WI: Shai Hope, Brandon King, Alzarri Joseph, Sherfane Rutherford, Jayden Seales, and Shimron Hetmyer are the key players for the West Indies.

BAN: Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah, and Taskin Ahmed are key players for visitors.

WI vs BAN Weather And Pitch Report

Warner Park may be in for an exciting day of cricket as partly cloudy skies are predicted with the temperature at 29°C.

Humidity at 75% along with steady winds at 26 km/h may just favor the swing bowlers, at least in the early overs. Precipitation is just 5%.

The pitch at Warner Park is traditionally balanced, offering something for both batters and bowlers.

While pacers can exploit the initial movement due to the breezy conditions, spinners might find assistance as the game progresses.

Batters will need to work hard for runs as the pitch becomes tougher for shot-making as the game goes on
