During the first One-Day International (ODI) between West Indies and Bangladesh at Warner Park, Basseterre, St. Kitts, an outstanding fielding effort by Roston Chase became the highlight of the day. Windies all-rounder Chase took a spectacular catch to dismiss Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan, who was looking dangerous.

The dismissal came in the 24th over of the innings, breaking the momentum of the visitors as West Indie right-arm fast bowler Alzarri Joseph bowled a short delivery outside off-stump. Tanzid batting on 60, attempted a cut shot but mistimed it. The ball flew in the air, and Chase who was positioned at point executed a well-judged catch to send Tanzid back to the pavilion. The wicket was crucial, coming against the run of play, and signalled a turning point in the match. Tanzid, who had struck six fours and three sixes, looked visibly disappointed as Bangladesh lost their third wicket.

Though Joseph’s bowling may not have grabbed the limelight, his contributions proved instrumental. The pacer finished with figures of 2 wickets in his 10-over spell. Besides dismissing Tanzid, Joseph also accounted for Soumya Sarkar earlier in the innings, removing the other opener for 19 runs. His early breakthroughs provided the West Indies with the foundation to restrict Bangladesh’s progress.
