Ravindra Jadeja Unlikely to Make It Into India’s Playing XI for Adelaide Test

India made a bold decision in the first Border-Gavaskar Test against Australia in Perth by picking Washington Sundar as the sole slow-bowling option, leaving out Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Sundar was not heavily involved in the match, but India secured a dominant 295-run victory.

Jadeja is unlikely to be included in the playing XI for the upcoming second Test match, which is set to commence at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, December 6. The left-arm spinner bowled five overs during the practice match and picked up the wicket of lower-order batter Jack Nisbet, conceding 32 runs.

You Can’t Have The Quality Of Ashwin And Jadeja – Cheteshwar Pujara

Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara said that India is yet to find suitable replacements for Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who were not included in the playing XI for the first Test against Australia in Perth.

Pujara emphasized that no one could match their quality. However, the veteran cricketer acknowledged the presence of young, talented spinners in the domestic circuit but noted that Ashwin and Jadeja’s legacy is unmatched.

“You can’t have the quality of Ashwin and Jadeja. I have seen a lot of spinners in the Indian domestic circuit, but I wouldn’t say that we have actual replacements for them. Yes, we do have some young talented bowlers whom we need to groom, but those are the legends of the game. I don’t think we will ever get someone as good as Ashwin or Jadeja. We might have some replacements, but I still feel those guys have contributed a lot to Indian cricket,” Pujara told ESPNcricinfo.
