The England and Wales Cricket Board has named a 15-man T20I squad for the upcoming multi-format series against India in January and February next year. Wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler will lead the team in the series, which will be the first assignment for head coach Brendon McCullum in white-ball formats.

England will play three ODIs and five T20Is against India, before the Champions Trophy 2025. The England team will depart for India on January 17, ahead of the first T20I, which is scheduled for January 22 in Kolkata. Chennai, Rajkot, Pune, and Mumbai will host the remaining T20I matches in the upcoming series.

Sam Curran, Will Jacks Dropped from England Squad for Upcoming Series

Jafer Chohan, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Dan Mousley, Reece Topley, and John Turner, who were part of England’s last T20I series against West Indies, were dropped from the squad. Rehan Ahmed, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith, and Mark Wood were included for the India tour.

Key players like Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood, Phil Salt, and Jamie Overton retained their places in the squad.

Mark Wood and Jofra Archer to Lead the Pace Attack in India T20Is

Mark Wood and Jofra Archer will lead the English pace attack, which includes Saqib Mahmood, Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, and Jamie Overton. Adil Rashid and Rehan Ahmed are the two frontline spinners in the squad, while all-rounder Liam Livingstone can contribute with part-time bowling if needed.

Jos Buttler and Phil Salt are likely to open the batting, with Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, and Harry Brook set to feature in the middle order. Jamie Smith, who is yet to make his T20I debut, has been included in the squad and could serve as the backup wicketkeeper. Ben Duckett is the reserve opener for the series.
