The England and Wales Cricket Board has named a 15-man T20I squad for the upcoming multi-format series against India in January and February next year. England will play three ODIs and five T20Is against India, before the Champions Trophy 2025. Jafer Chohan, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Dan Mousley, Reece Topley, and John Turner, who were part of England’s last T20I series against West Indies, were dropped from the squad. Rehan Ahmed, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith, and Mark Wood were included for the India tour.

Mark Wood and Jofra Archer to Lead the Pace Attack in India T20Is
Mark Wood and Jofra Archer will lead the English pace attack, which includes Saqib Mahmood, Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, and Jamie Overton. Adil Rashid and Rehan Ahmed are the two frontline spinners in the squad, while all-rounder Liam Livingstone can contribute with part-time bowling if needed.
Jos Buttler and Phil Salt are likely to open the batting, with Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, and Harry Brook set to feature in the middle order. Jamie Smith, who is yet to make his T20I debut, has been included in the squad and could serve as the backup wicketkeeper. Ben Duckett is the reserve opener for the series.

Following the T20I series, England will play a three-match ODI series in India starting February 6 in Nagpur. This series will serve as vital preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to be in Pakistan under a hybrid model in February-March 2025.
