The India National Cricket Team squad for the three-match ODI series against the England National Cricket Team no doubt will depict what side Team India will be fielding in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The three games also will allow hosts to set their combination for the tournament.

The Indian squad for the England ODIs will see the return of Mohammed Shami as well. As per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that he will be making his comeback ahead of the ICC Champions 2025. His participation in the T20I series, however, is uncertain as of now.

Mohammed Shami gets the clearance from the Sports Science wing of the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence

It is learned that Mohammed Shami has either got the clearance from the Sports Science wing of the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru or is expected to get it. He has been featuring in domestic cricket regularly and recently played in the Vijay Hazare domestic one-day competition for Bengal as well.

The addition of Mohammed Shami will be a massive boost for the Indian team, especially with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He last played ODIs during the ICC World Cup 2023, where he was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 24 wickets to his name in 7 games.

Mohammed Shami has been putting hard yards at NCA to recover from the ankle injury, and when it was done, he experienced swelling in his knee, which ruled him out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. But with him, now getting clean chit, the team management would want him to play as many games as possible.

Mohammed Shami to be partnered by Arshdeep Singh in the England ODIs

Mohammed Shami is all set to be partnered by Arshdeep Singh in the England ODIs. The left-arm pacer, who will be leading the bowling attack in T20Is, will reportedly be playing 50-over games as well and is in contention to be selected for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Of late, several reports claimed that Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was the hero for India in Tests down under, might be rushed into ODIs to make him play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, Cricbuzz confirmed that it is unlikely that he will be part of ODIs, although he will be playing T20Is against England.

Washington Sundar and Yashasvi Jaiswal all set to be picked for the ODI series against England

The reports added that Washington Sundar is all set to be part of the ODI series against England National Cricket Team. The all-rounder is now expected to be a regular across formats. He was also part of the ODI squad, which played three ODIs in Sri Lanka in August last year.

It is also reported that Yashasvi Jaiswal could also be picked for the ODI team. He will be serving as a backup opener to Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. The England series begins on January 22, and after the five T20Is, the ODIs will be played on February 6, 9 and 12.
