Jasprit Bumrah creates history, achieves joint-highest rating by an Indian bowler in ICC Rankings

India National Cricket Team pacer Jasprit Bumrah has achieved a massive feat in the history of Test cricket for his team. The premier pacer now has the joint highest rating by an Indian bowler in Test rankings, equalling Ravichandran Ashwin with 904 rating points.

Jasprit Bumrah extended his lead at the top of the ICC rankings for bowlers. The fast bowler gained 14 rating points after his heroics with the ball in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The match took place at the Gabba in Brisbane and saw India fighting hard to register the draw.

Jasprit Bumrah was yet again the star for India with the ball as he picked a six-fer in the first innings and then bagged three scalps in the second innings. The premier pacer returned with the figures of 9/94 and extended his wickets tally in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Jasprit Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker in the series against the Australia National Cricket Team. The fast bowler has taken 21 wickets in the three games so far and with two more remaining in the series, he is expected to take more wickets and go past Ravichandran Ashwin’s tally of 904 rating points.

Jasprit Bumrah, with 904 rating points, stands at the top as the joint-highest rating ever achieved by an India Test bowler, standing alongside retired Ravichandran Ashwin, who achieved the feat in December 2016. The pacer has been right on the money with the red ball and is ahead of South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood in the ICC Test rankings.

Travis Head moves to No.4, Steve Smith enters Top 10 rankings

In terms of the ICC Test rankings for batters, Travis Head after his staggering century in Gabba, moved to No.4. He played a staggering innings of 152 runs. Steve Smith, who also hit a ton, made his way back into the top 10 rankings, while KL Rahul, after his 84, jumped to the 40th spot.

Australia National Cricket Team skipper Pat Cummins, after his four wickets with the ball and 42 runs in the third Test against India, entered the top 10 in ICC rankings for Test all-rounders. Travis Head also moved nine places up to 29th spot in the rankings.

Heinrich Klaasen also made substantial gains in the ICC ODI rankings for batters

South Africa National Cricket Team batter Heinrich Klaasen also made substantial gains in the ICC ODI rankings for batters. He moved from the 13th spot to fifth after his three half-centuries in the series. Pakistan opener Saim Ayub, who hit two centuries, rose from 70th to a joint-23rd position, amassing 603 points.

Afghanistan National Cricket Team pacer Azmatullah Omarzai, after his six wickets in the second game against Zimbabwe, climbed 43 places to 58th in the ODI Bowling Rankings. The all-rounder also jumped five places to third in the all-rounders category.
