West Indies booked their name in the history books by defeating Pakistan in the second Test of the two-match Test series at Multan. It was a massive result for the Men in Maroon as they created one of the most memorable moments in their cricket history.
Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican picked up the last wicket of Pakistan’s innings by picking up Sajid Khan’s wicket. All the West Indies players joined in the celebrations as it marked a big moment for them.
It was just West Indies’ fifth win on Pakistani soil and their first in 34 years. It brought back the memories of their famous win at Gabba against Australia which had come almost exactly at this date last year. While their fast bowlers did the job for them back then, it was the time for their spinners to weave their magic this time.’
The social media was buzzing after West Indies’ performances as they hailed them for a fantastic win. Meanwhile, it was an embarrassing moment for Pakistan and they finished last in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table.

Fabulous win by a relatively inexperienced West Indies team in challenging, foreign conditions. Never once have they complained publicly about conditions. They just got on with the job. Tremendous credit to Kraigg Brathwaite, Andre Coley and the team.

Spin dominates series
It was a series dominated by the spinners as fast bowlers had very little to say. While Pakistan’s spinners were expected to do well, West Indies’ spinners were highly impressive as well.
The spin trio of Gudakesh Motie, Kevin Sinclair, and Jomel Warrican created havoc as they picked up 31 wickets between them during the series.
Jomel Warrican shone with 19 wickets in just two Tests at an average of just 9. Warrican was adjudged the Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his brilliance.
Great comeback by West Indies
It was a great comeback from West Indies after they were reduced to 38-7 on the first day. But their tailenders produced a fine recovery and took them to a respectable first innings total. The spinners then took over to help West Indies gain a crucial first-innings lead.
The visitors put up a fine batting effort in their second innings to post a huge second-innings score. The target of 254 was always going to be a huge one on a turning track and Pakistan folded up for just 133 to lose the match by 120 runs.
