Virat Kohli or Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was at fault? Parthiv Patel drops truth bomb on run-out

Parthiv Patel And Virat Kohli Yashasvi Jaiswal

Former India National Cricket Team player Parthiv Patel talked about the mix-up between Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal on Day Two of the ongoing fourth Test against Australia. He said that it was a mistake of the left-hander as there was no need to take the quick single.

India National Cricket Team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had a poor ending to his knock as the batter was involved in a horrible mix-up with Virat Kohli and got out. His wicket triggered the collapse for the visitors as they went on to lose the three wickets in a flash.

Yashasvi Jaiswal gets run out after mix-up with Virat Kohli

Yashasvi Jaiswal played a solid drive to mid-on against Scott Boland and called for the quick run and he took off. Kohli, however, didn’t seem interested as he looked at the ball by turning back, not looking at his batting partner.

Kohli kept watching the ball and was near his crease even though Yashasvi Jaiswal kept running. Pat Cummins attacked the ball and threw it at the striker’s end but missed the target. Alex Carey ran, collected the ball, and effected the run out to end the batter’s innings on 82 runs.

The situation changed after that run-out – Parthiv Patel

Parthiv Patel, while talking about the match, said that the run-out changed the entire course of the game. He highlighted that India were in full control and stressed that both Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal were batting at their best. Speaking to Cricbuzz, he explained:

“The way India started the session, the way the game was going on for the last half an hour there were about 25 minutes left till then, India was in full control. Especially the way the runs were coming, the speed with which the runs were coming. Everything was going in India’s favour. There was a big question on Virat Kohli related to outside off stump, he was giving a lot of answers.

“He was showing a lot of patience, was forcing Australia to bowl at him. Yashasvi Jaiswal was also playing his game. The way he plays his game, he was playing his game but the unfortunate run out from where the whole game changed. The situation changed after that run-out.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal made a mistake, he looked in a hurry – Parthiv Patel

Parthiv Patel also believes that it was a mistake of Yashasvi Jaiswal as the fielder was so near, and Kohli didn’t expect the young batter to run. He said that even if a run was taken, there was a chance of Kohli getting run out at the striker’s end. He explained:

“If we go to the cricketing fundamentals if the ball is behind you, then the call is of striker, and here the call was of Yashasi Jaiswal, there is no doubt in that. But the mid-on was standing in front of Virat Kohli. So I don’t think Virat Kohli was expecting that by hitting here Yashasvi Jaiswal will call for a run. So the mistake I think in my opinion Yashasvi Jaiswal made a mistake; he looked in a hurry.

“There was no need for that. It was such a call. If Virat Kohli had run, then maybe there would have been chances of running out at his end. And the kind of game was going on, the kind of situation that was, there was no need to take that one run because the boundaries were coming easily.”
