Jasprit Bumrah has been India’s best player of the series so far, combining both the batting and bowling departments. The Indian vice-captain has been the standout performer of this series and has probably played a lone hand in the bowling department so far.

He was the Player of the Match in Perth for his eight wickets in the match. Bumrah picked up 5-30 and 3-42 across both the innings of the match to stun Australia and help India win a historic match.

In the remaining Tests of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah has a huge role to play. He is a valuable player for the team and his fitness will be India’s utmost priority.

In the absence of Mohammed Shami, Bumrah’s experience is going to be vital for India in the upcoming games. Being a vice-captain, he is also part of the team’s leadership group.

Australia take a big first innings lead

Meanwhile, Australia have further solidified its position in Adelaide. After bundling out India for just 180 in the first innings, the home team grinded out India’s bowlers.

Bumrah picked up the first three wickets for Australia but Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne stitched together a brilliant partnership. Labuschagne was dismissed by Nitish Kumar Reddy but Head carried on with his merry way.

The left-handed batter struck a magnificent hundred on his home ground and smashed Indian bowlers all around the park. Head’s counter-attacking century took Australia to a position of strength. He was finally dismissed for 140 off 141 balls by Mohammed Siraj.
