Steve Smith continued his gold form, slams another century in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25
Smith, who slammed a magnificent ton in the last match at the Gabba, continued his golden form and came up with another magnificent effort with the bat. He walked out to bat at No.4 and didn’t put a foot wrong right from the start he stepped on the crease.
Smith timed the ball to perfection and played some magnificent-looking shots. He troubled the Indian bowlers a lot, and with the way he was batting, it seemed that the Rohit Sharma-led side had no answers to the carnage him as Australia piled up a huge total.
Smith first slammed a solid half-century and stayed unbeaten at 68 runs at the stumps on Day 1. He continued from where he left off last night and went on to slam a magnificent century, his second consecutive ton in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Smith was looking all set for a big knock but his stay at the crease was cut short by Akash Deep. But it’s fair to say that luck wasn’t completely on his side as he bagged the most unfortunate dismissal in the match and had to take a long walk back.
Smith decided to give charge to Akash Deep and attempted a big shot. But he got an inside edge onto the back leg, and it rolled back onto the stumps, which was enough to dislodge a single bail. He was so far down and couldn’t prevent the ball from rolling back on.
