The first edition of the WPL was played in Mumbai, the second in Delhi and Bengaluru
If the reports are to be believed, then it will be a massive step forward for Women’s cricket in India. The BCCI, for the last few years, has been putting a lot of work into developing Women’s cricket, and it’s paying off.
The first edition of the Women’s Premier League was played in Mumbai. The BCCI, however then moved a step forward and hosted the next edition on two venues in Delhi and Bengaluru. However, now the number will increase, and four stadiums across the country will be hosting the Women’s Premier League.
WPL 2025 would commence on February 6 or 7, final likely to be played around March 8-9
Although there isn’t any official confirmation, there were a few reports that claimed that WPL 2025 would commence on February 6 or 7. The BCCI reportedly has held informal conversations with the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) and a formal announcement will be made soon.
The final of the event is likely to be played around March 8-9. The league will see 23 matches being played over 4 venues, and it will be a massive boost for the teams as well as the players. By staging the tournament in multiple venues, the goal of the BCCI is to spread the game across the country.
The WPL 2025 auction recently took place, and all the franchises strengthened their squad. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the defending champions of the tournament after they thumped Delhi Capitals in the final to win, bringing the first title for the franchise in the history of franchise cricket. They would be keen to carry on the momentum from last year and win another title.
